Preview. Supplier onboarding is still in progress, so eSIM profiles issued here are simulated and no payment is taken.

Privacy Policy

Effective 16 August 2026. This covers the Bilby app and bilbymobile.com.

The short version

You do not need an account to use Bilby. We do not know your name or your email address. We hold a random ID, your country, and a record of the ads you have watched and the data you have claimed.

Google collects your advertising ID to serve the ads, because that is how the free data gets paid for. Everything else below is detail.

What we collect and why

This is the complete list. If something is not here, we do not have it.

A random account ID

A randomly generated identifier stored in a signed cookie on your device. It is not derived from anything about you, not your name, email, phone number or device. It exists so your data balance survives closing the app.

Why: To keep track of your data balance and your eSIM without making you create an account.

Shared with: Nobody · Kept: Until you ask us to delete it, or 24 months after last use.

Your country

The two-letter country code our network provider derives from your IP address, for example 'AU' or 'TH'. We store the country code only. We do not store your IP address, and we never request GPS or precise location permission.

Why: Mobile data costs us different amounts in different countries, and ads are worth different amounts too. Your country is what lets us work out how much data one ad can actually pay for where you are.

Shared with: Nobody · Kept: Until you ask us to delete it, or 24 months after last use.

Advertising ID

Google's resettable advertising identifier, collected by the Google AdMob SDK inside the app. We do not read it ourselves and it is never stored on our servers.

Why: So Google can serve you a relevant ad and confirm to us that you actually watched it. Ad revenue is what pays for the free data.

Shared with: Google (AdMob) · Kept: Held by Google under their policies, not ours. You can reset or delete it in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads.

Your earning and redemption history

A record of each ad view credited to you, how much data it was worth, and when you converted credits into real data. Ad views are recorded against an anonymous transaction ID supplied by Google.

Why: To calculate your balance, enforce daily limits, and detect abuse. It is also our accounting record, so we need to be able to show what was granted and why.

Shared with: Nobody · Kept: Kept as a financial record for 7 years, as Australian tax law requires. Detached from your account ID when you request deletion.

Your eSIM identifier (ICCID)

The serial number of any eSIM profile we issue you, plus its activation details. This identifies the SIM, not you.

Why: To load data onto the right eSIM, show you your remaining balance, and support you if it stops working.

Shared with: Our connectivity supplier, who operates the mobile network · Kept: For the life of the eSIM plus 12 months, so we can support you and meet our supplier's record-keeping obligations.

What we do not collect

Worth stating explicitly, because a privacy policy that only lists what it takes tells you nothing about what it leaves alone.

Ads

Bilby's free data is paid for by rewarded video ads served by Google AdMob. When you watch one, Google collects your advertising ID and standard ad-request information, then tells our servers that a view completed so we can credit you.

Google's handling of that data is governed by their policies, not ours. See how Google uses information from partner sites and apps.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. Doing so does not stop you using Bilby, though it may reduce how much each ad is worth, and since that is what funds your free data it may reduce how much data you earn per ad.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, and if you are in Europe the GDPR, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. Email hello@bilbymobile.com and we will respond within 30 days.

One honest limitation: because there is no account, we identify you by the random ID in your app. If you delete the app without asking us first, we have no way to connect a later request to your old data, so ask before you uninstall.

We keep your earning history for seven years even after a deletion request, because Australian tax law requires us to retain financial records. It is detached from your ID at that point, so it is no longer about you. It is a row in an accounting ledger.

Where your data lives

On servers operated by our hosting provider, and with our connectivity supplier for the parts they need to run your eSIM. Some of those servers are outside Australia. We do not sell your data to anyone, and there is no version of this business where we would. The product is funded by ads and data plans, not by you being the product.

Changes and contact

If we change this materially we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, not quietly update the date at the top.
